DSS axles, CV boots split wide open after a year...why??
I got DSS stage 1 (yea yea I know) axles for my 95 CX hatch w/ H22. Using Hasport mounts. After a year of running with no problems (except for some vibration that may or may not have anything to do with the axles) the outer boots split open on both sides! I didnt notice it immediately, and they ended up totally splitting open and puking axle grease everywhere.
Talked to the guys at DSS and they're gonna repair them for cheap. My question is why did this happen and how can I prevent it?
One thing I thought of: despite the fact that I have adjustable coilovers, I have left my car at stock height so as to protect my header and oil pan. However, as a result, the angle on the outer CV joints is pretty extreme. Maybe lowering the car would create a more reasonable angle and put less stress on the boots and joints?
thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions
