Default dont feel vtec kicking in

I got a 99 ls with a b16 head and a gsr ecu. My engine rev up to past 8k no check engine lighton. Stock intake and exhaust. But don't hear the vtec pop or the pull. Have idea what could it be?????

if no cel is coming on i would say if you want more pull open up your intake and exhaust, vtec doesnt pop......

check your ait sensor, u will never see vtec if it aint plugged in, it belongs on ur intake and if u went aftermarket n dnt have it plugged in then that could be the problem, check wiring if u switched computers. i thought it was the wiring on mine and ended up being that stupid sensor. tuners can bypass that upon tuning. good luck.

is ur check engine light coming on and turning off when u first turn the key on? if not, it's possible you have a CEL and someone disconnected the bulb. second option would be that you're not running a vtec ecu, therefore it wouldn't throw a cel for vtec not working.

Could be the welds on the intake manifold

you're actually not suppose to feel it switch over, theres suppose to be a smooth transition into vtec.... it does not "pop!"


its probably working just fine
