Does anyone have a H22A4 swap w/ sportshift auto tranny into Civic?
I just bought my H22A4 swap for my 93 Civic coupe. It came with a Sportshift auto tranny. My question is, has anyone performed or even heard of this dropped into a Civic? Can a 'shiftkit' be installed to make it sportier? I know Im crazy for thinking about installing it, but the car is a showcar and Ive never seen this done at any carshow. However, performance comes first! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. I got a great deal on the motor and tranny.
2. I take it to carshows, a Civic with a Sportshift setup is unusual, more points from judges.

Not bad. I personally wouldn't deal with the sport shift automatic, as there is way more wiring to be done.
But if you wish to insatll that, I would recommend you purchase the Civic Helms manual as well as the 97+ Helms manual.
You're going to need to do the wiring yourself and make the proper pin-outs as a 97+ Prelude is wired up so the Automatic and such will work like factory.

The transmission comes with its own wiring harness and ECU, so it shouldn't be that difficult. I just think the way I drive, it will never hold up or be good enough . Does anyone know what year Accord transmission will fit a H22A4? Anyone selling one? Thanks.

Now it won't be such a good deal when you end up spend more $ on a manual tranny and ECU.

I'll pretend like I never read that.

the larger auto transmission will not fit in the Civic engine bay. The 5 speed trans barely fits as it is . . .

Yes, it does fit. After reading all the threads about it, and all the problems people had, Im not going to install it. Also, the deal I got on the motor, I paid less than if I bought the longblock all by itself, and selling the auto setup will easily pay for a manual.

How many H22 swaps have you done? We've done several EG/EK/DC H22 and several H22 accords. The Auto trans is taller and wider on the top outer portion. We know because we have installed those too - into accords. There is a reason the frame rail is notched on the Preludes the swaps come out of.
There's no way the top mounts on the auto trans will even come close to vertically lining up with the Civic/Integra frame rail. They're easily going to be 2-3" too high, not to mention being too wide. It just won't work - unless you plan on doing some *major* cutting & welding.
Anyways, This is a moot point considering you mad the right choice and chose not to do it . . .

Well. I guess you already decided not to do it, but if you had a helms with the tranny section in it then, yes it would be easy to make it shift hard....like breaking tires loose kinda stuff....
But it just doenst seem right scratching gears in an auto FWD car

Yeah, Im definately not going to install it. I guess I shouldnt have listened to a HASport tech., he's the one that said their mounts work for auto's just as easy as manuals. Anyone know of someone thats selling a h22, h23 tranny? didnt see any in classifieds
