Difference between H22a type S and H22a euro R?
Difference between H22a type S and H22a euro R? so i want to know everything about the diffs on these 2 motors. i'm herd that the euro R has a single stage intake mani. but i'm not sure if it's true. i'v herd the R comes with higher quality camshafts and valve springs. i'v herd that the euro R have forged rods. i'v herd the R has 220hp/163tq and the S has 220hp/153tq. but that could be in the tunning. i'ma gona use an UBERDATA program for tunning any way cus i have one. pls help me out with the diffs in between the 2. thanks!
PS i't will be going into a EG hatch. so all the info will help. ok back to reseach more on this H22 stuff ;D

Euro-R has slight differences in the cams, valvetrain, piston and rods.
Unsure about the manifold Ill go down and check soon (Mum has one ) and a mate has type s poolude.
If your deciding between them get the Euro-R engine and box because its alot better than the atts **** in the type s,it cant handle much more than stock power.

euro-r has the type-s upgrades, as well as a few other refinements, even down to some of the mounts, brackets and pieces made of aluminum to save weight. intake parts made of a more granular material (better flow?) came without belt driven power steering, hardly any emissions equipment. different valve angles, stiffer springs, higher lift cams, type-S (11:1) pistons. few other little (minor) differences that ive noticed but nothing really worth mentioning.
tranny had shorter gearing with an upgraded lsd unit (unsure of details), also heard mention of beefier synchros.
type-s seems to be just an upgraded h22 (cams and pistons) while the euro-r seems to be a bit more refined and peaky.
either one puts out very similar numbers, so really either one is good. worth 2000 extra just for 20hp? debateable.

There is a difference, talking to an engine importer before about this between the Euro R and type S. I believe the Euro R he claimed had more power, and that was the reason it cost more then the Type S. I am sure the power is similar if not the same but may be other slight differences like the tranny gearing.
But yes, why spend $2000 more on a Type S or Euro R swap? when a std jdm h22a will make just as good power 204 whp and 166 ft lbs of torque with just I/H/E. Thats supposively more power then the Type S or Euro R will make. Best idea save the $2k build the head.

Do you US guys serioulsy pay $5500 for a jdm itr motor? we pay that in NZD and currently its sitting at 68cents per NZ dollar.
I should start buying them and start shiping them over cos that works out that you pay $8000nzd for what we get with $5500 and that for the 98spec too.

Haha we could use your car as the promotional v-hickle.
Its damn good being able to import any JDM car for cheap and having real EF9s and EK9s is a bonus
