Difference between B20 Head and B18 head non-Vtec besides the intake manifold.
My cousin's Crv was rear ended. It's a total loss and he only had liability. He said he would give me the motor free of chagre. Now i was think about putting the B20 block on my B18 head. But if the B20 head is better then i might as well swap the whole motor. Does anyone have any insight on this.

There's no point of swapping heads. B20B/Z head and B18A/B head are the same. They all have a PR4/P74/P75 cast which is the same, just different generations. B20Z has 0.3mm larger intake cam than the other heads. B20B has 8.8:1 or 9.2:1 Compression Ratio while the B20Z has a 9.6:1 Compresson Ratio. 8.8:1 is not going to be the most fun motor to rev up high, but the 9.6:1 (B20Z) would be nice.
What you will need to do is use your current intake manifold, throttle body, distributor, mounts and exhaust manifold.

as teg92 said...there wouldnt be a difference...however you should keep one of the heads...just incase you want to do port and polish...or get a valve job, or build the head in any other various ways that you can, so you can reduce down time...but yeah your gonna need your intake manifold...your tranny, flywheel, clutch, your mounts and an exhaust manifold, good luck

There is no difference between a B20 and B18B head. But the B20 head is better than the B18A head.

Get a little bit more compression with the LS head. Seeing as the combustion chamber is made for a smaller bore.
But I doubt it's enough to make a difference.

i heard that b18a heads are ****. i heard that if i bolt up a b18b head to my b18a block, that the head will give me 10 more hp. i also heard that b20 heads have better stock cams too.. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by fowleryo »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Get a little bit more compression with the LS head. wrong.
the heads are all nearly identical, and if there are any differences, its only a fraction of the differences that made the difference in HP from 90-91 and 92-93.
From the 90-91 to 92-93 ("10hp gain") many things changed, such as, cams, intake manifold, ECU, exhaust manifold. Its not just cause of the head.
bottom line. NO POINT IN SWAPPING STOCK nonvtec heads!

so it is true than a b18b head will give 10 more hp. when i say head, i mean the whole head( cams, intake, exhaust manifold

Yes. Swapping the ENTIRE head will yield gains over the stock B18A head.
