Re: diff between ls and gsr tranny.... (mitsuman)
whats the difference? not the diff in gear ratio, but in looks. any identifying marks? thnx
here's a break down of tranny part numbers:
90-91 LS = A1 (i've seen a few with S1 trannies, could've been B16A trannies though)
92-93 LS & GSR = YS1
94-mid95 = Y80
late 95-01 = S80
If you find out the serial number, there's a way to tell if its a GSR/LS/ITR tranny for the any of the 92+ B-series trannies.

cool thnx, o and the jdm gsr cable tranny's prior to 92 are unmarked right? thats what my friend was telling me but jes wanna make sure.
The JDM 92-93 GSR which is actually known as an XSi or RSi have a YS1 tranny, exactly the same as our 92-93 B17/GSR YS1 tranny, but have an optional LSD!
