Are you asking about Hydro or Cable type transmissions? actually it doesn't matter, either cable or hydro type LS or GSR trannies, all look alike.....even the part numbers are the same....except for the 90-91 LS trannies which are 'A1'

here's a break down of tranny part numbers:

90-91 LS = A1 (i've seen a few with S1 trannies, could've been B16A trannies though)

92-93 LS & GSR = YS1

94-mid95 = Y80
late 95-01 = S80

If you find out the serial number, there's a way to tell if its a GSR/LS/ITR tranny for the any of the 92+ B-series trannies.

NOOOOO WAAYYY!
The JDM 92-93 GSR which is actually known as an XSi or RSi have a YS1 tranny, exactly the same as our 92-93 B17/GSR YS1 tranny, but have an optional LSD!
