swapping a b18c1 motor into a del sol. new at this. i work with subarus and nissans. doing this for buddy. his motor is in. he had someone els wire it up. weare trying t6o get the motor running before we hook the cool system and other stuff up. motor will start as long as you prime the system. the more times you turn the key to prime it the longer the car will idle. then it dies. and it dies hard. and ends uip back blowing exhaust out the throttle body cause the air filter not on. it idles fine. you can rev it and it revs fine but then dies quicker. it seems its not keeping proper fuel pressure to keep the injectore sprayingproperly. and sometimes it cranks fast and easy but then it wont start. other times it turns over hard and thats when it starts. it is only off by one tooth. i re set the ignition timing. any other suggestions?

we are trying to get the motor running fully before we hook the cooling system up. its just the motor, the transmission, and the electronics in to. like i said. it will start. but wont stay started. need to prime the fuel system to have it idle for like ten seconds before it dies hard and makes a wheezing sound

Well, looking over the guide I clearly see where he states to hook EVERYTHING up and follows up by saying to check the timing.

ok so i hook EVERYTHING up and then turn it over to see if it will stay started. their is no reason why right now half the time it turns over easily like it should and the other times it turns over hard and slow. well no reason i can think of.

And the car is not throwing any CELs while it's doing this? Should have started your own thread. This has NOTHING to do with this guide or any steps in it since yoou aren't actually following it.

Just have to say, one of the most helpful threads I've read. Answered a lot of questions I had. And a lot of good info to go over my eg that was swapped before I got it.

so i have a b20vtec i just installed into my 93 civic si eg hatchback. I also have both O2 sensors (4 wire Bseries and 2 wire Dseries). My question is: is there a spot where i can plug my 4 wire O2 sensor into my wire harness wich is out of a 94 GSR. Or even a spot in my dash harness that goes straight to the ecu? My car originally had a d16z6 and i am currently using my stock p28ecu. I'd like to get this tuning going as its running now and i also have a wide band O2 sensor but im fairly new to the whole tuning thing. I just want to make sure everything is set up for it. Hope someone has an clue lol

I have a 93 civic ex and I'm going to drop in a gsr. My stock motor is a d16z6. Will I still have to change out wiring to run the vtec solenoid etc?

What ECU are you going to be using? Intake manifold? What year is the GSR engine?

If you use a chipped P28 you won't have to run any more wiring for VTEC, knock or the IAB's.

However if you use the GSR dual butterfly manifold (IAB's) you're going to want to preferably use the P72 ECU and run wiring for knock and the IAB's.

If the engine is OBD1 the rest should be plug and play. If the engine is OBD2 you'll want the OBD1 components or jumper harnesses to use the injectors, alternator and distributor.

what kind of exhaust do I need to mount it to my 93 dx hatchback? Have a b18c1 swap in it already but they won't pass it on inspection even though my county in MO doesn't require emissions.Or do I just need to order it for the catback and exhaust tip and run 2 and 3/4th's to 3 inch just before the tip? Was told to order an n1 exhaust for it but was also wondering wether there was a better option out there, already geared out for the strip has racing radiator stripped down to bare metal on the inside, battery in the back with a switch, toggle switch for the radiator to let the engine warm faster before a run, power steering and pump removed, lowered to 3.2 inches,k&n cold air intake, its basically a 1500 pound go cart as is its sits now lol, want to get as much outta the motor as I can. only has 40,000 mile's on the motor and it was built in Japan before it got shipped here and put into the civic, so it's just now ready for a turbo but I would like to know if anyone knows of a kit that will allow a gsr full exhaust to just be mounted straight to the 93 dx, been looking **** up on this issue for 2 days
