Default DD Swap for EG on a budget

Hi guys,

I've got a 92 EG sedan daily driver with a tired old D15 in it with close to 200k miles. I'm looking to replace the motor with the goals of cheap, decent mpg, decent torque, reliability, and A/C. I want to be able to drive in the mountains without struggling to maintain speed. Even the current D15 is enough power for me, until I turn on the A/C or add 2 people to my car, then hills become impossible to maintain speed up. I see B20s for under 400 in my area and on eBay all the time, and the 125+ft-lbs of torque would be a decent upgrade over the 85ft-lbs my tired D15 is probably putting out. Can a B20 swap with A/C be done within a reasonable budget? What kind of MPG do they get? I've also thought about a stock D16z6 turbo on low boost (<8lbs) which would be perfect, but I believe it would cost a lot more than a B20 swap once tuning and misc parts are factored in. Plus it seems like it would be less reliable, more moving parts means more things to fail.

TL;DR - It seems like my 2 choices for decent torque and decent gas milage are a D16 turbo, or a B20. H22 swap or K swap seems way out of my budget. What do you guys think? Am I on the right track? How cheaply could I do this? Thanks for reading!

Even a B18b has really good midrange torque.

If it's a daily, I wouldn't modify it too far. Turbo sounds like a bad idea.
