D16Z6 Swap Into A 1990 CRX HF
Hello, I purchased a D16Z6 from a friend to put it in my CRX HF. I have a wiring question for those who have successfully attempted this swap. Should I :
A. Use the original injector harness off of an OBD0 MPFI CRX, which plugs into the existing harness that goes to the ECU and use a PW0 or PR3 vtec computer, or
B. Use the D16Z6 OBD1 injector harness and get the harness out of an OBD1 civic that goes from the firewall to the ecu and use the D16Z6's popular P28 ecu?
If you choose option B, please fill me in on the difficulty on wiring in the wires that run to the drivers side of the dash.... I know they have to do something! Haha
Thanks for your help guys!

It's easiest to keep it OBD0 and reuse your stock injectors, modded distributor, etc. You would want to get a 88-91 PM6 Si ECU then a VAFC to control the VTEC and tune the air/fuel mixture. You could also do the ghetto MSD activated VTEC but that's not the best solution. I wouldn't use a PR3 or PWO unless you are going to have the motor really built up.

This would require getting an OBD0 to OBD1 ECU adapter harness. You wouldn't need to use the Z6 harness complete, rather to salvage for the necessary plugs and wiring. You will reuse the HF harness but convert the injector clips, distributor plugs and O2 to OBD1 style and use those OBD1 parts. This is by far the best method but requires a little more wiring and work but the results are basically like having a complete factory-like D16Z6 setup in your EF.
