D16Z6 Head & D16Y8 Block -- Parts Inquiry
Hello:
Upon plenty of searching and the inconsistency displayed in the results, I am asking for your help.
I recently purchased a fully built Supertech D16Z6 head and included was the D16Z6 distributor, stock camshaft, stock cam gear and in other words, a complete OBD1 D16Z6 head. I will be installing the head onto my OBD2b-1999 D16Y8 fully built block.
The questions I have are:
-Do I use 9 D16Y8 head studs and 1 D16Z6 head stud?
-Is the D16Y8 OR the D16Z6 head gasket okay to use? (I have an OEM D16Y8 head gasket)
-Does it matter which timing belt I use (from what I've read, use the timing belt in regards to the head and cam gear you have, i.e. D16Z6)?
-As for the timing, does anything change if I am installing a complete D16Z6 head onto a D16Y8 block (i.e. is degreeing necessary)?
-Is there a plug-and-play harness I can buy to use the D16Z6 distributor on the D16Z6 head that will connect into my OBD2b alternator wiring harness?
Thank you for your time and I hope to clear up these issues.

Injectors if you have the Y8 ones use them for plug and play
IAT sensor won't plug into the Z6 manifold, reuse the OBD2 style in the intake arm or swap connectors
What is your year, make, model? There may be more mods.

I also forgot to mention the car is boosted.
As for the injectors, they're OBD1 520 cc's.
As for the IAT sensor, where should I place that?
In regards to the timing belt, do I really NEED to use a D16Z6 timing belt and if so, why? I only ask because I have a brand new D16Y8 timing belt.
Also, I have heard that the timing will either need to be advanced or retarded (+/-) 4.5 degrees, is this true or will the timing be fine?
Thanks for your help.

Yeah the Y8 will work same number of teeth 104. Timing will not be off just use the Z6 cam gear. Place the IAT somewhere in your intake arm.
