D16Y8 intake manifold on Z6 ?'s
I'm planning on putting a D16Y8 intake manifold on a D16Z6. Are there any problems with any sensors or vacuum routing? I know that it will bolt up, but has anyone else who has done this have any tips or hints? Any input is appreciated. TIA.

I'm just curious, but why do you want that intake mainfold on there, what is the benefit? I was jsut wondering because I have that same motor(D16Z6) in my 92 Civic Si. If it will make a difference then I might try it. In my opinion, I would think that it would work just because the fact that the newer EX heads bolt right on exactly the same as the 5th Gen Si head does. Looking at it that way, I would think that the intake mainfold would work just fine. Hope this small bit of info helps. Let me know if this actually makes any differece in the power of the motor.

wow really, so it would be great with either NA or FI. Are the runners shorter like the type R design also, or what ios so much better about them? Just a newer design?

Re: D16Y8 intake manifold on Z6 ?'s (92CivicSiR)
I realize that the Y8's is bigger than the Z6's, but the difference between the two engines is a measly two horsepower. I would think that a bigger throttlebody on the Z6 would do the trick. The difference between the B18C1 and 5 is around 20-25 horsepower, plus the manifolds look different.....I can see why it would help for that, but for the SOHC, I'm not too convinced.

Well, I have the Y8 manifold lying around taking up space, so I figured I might as well put it to use. I'm going to also use a B18B throttle body and port match it. Comparing the Y8 and Z6 manifold, the Y8 has a larger plenum and the runners also look a little bigger. But again this is using eyeball measuring. But if anyone has run into any wiring or vacuum probs, please post. TIA.

The throtle body is different so you'll need that too. Also the y8 manifold will sit about an inch further towards the drivers side of the car than the z6 did. Your intake might not fit quite right because of where your intake pipe and TB meet will now be an inch over towards the drivers side. Thats about it though, all the sensors are the same. I'm stuck in the middle of a z6 to y8 head TB and manifold conversion, except that I'm getting code 1 and 4 and the thicker head gasket I added leaks (running boost). Other than that everything worked great (THIS SUCKS). Hope I helped.
