Icon7 D16Y8 harness -> H22A ?

My first question, after being tossed into a predicament I was curious if I could make an obd2a d16y8 harness work on a obd1 h22a? Common sense tells me hell no, but as I do with most things after searching and finding no answers I bring it here for clarity.

I'll accept any flame for an apparent nubile question but I think I just want someone to tell me yes as long as I extend/add what I need to haha.

Anyways, thanks in advance everyone !

May have solved my problems, I found someone with an F20 setup in an EK getting rid of everything. I was curious, the F20 is vaguely similar to the H22 so if that harness is already compatible with an obd2 EK wouldn't it work?

Haha, thanks for the response :p

Now I ask, where you saying yes it'll work because I want someone to tell me that. Or, were you saying yes I can mod the y8 to work the h22? Finally, and my most hopeful answer, you were saying yes the already modded f20 harness will work!?

Yes, you need to use your stock y8 harness and modify it as necessary. A good start would be mounting the harness ground wire to the thermostat housing and then start routing the wires. Good luck!

When swapping it is common place to reuse the harness that came with the car.

In your case a Y8 harness, That being said, I have done this many times and it isnt as complicated as you may think.

Back in the day when I first started swapping Hondas. I would compare the differences between each harness. Hopefully you have parts for the H22 harness as what would come with a JDM engine.

The injector clip will need to be changed to the H22 style and adding a resistor box (many writes ups on that)

Extend the alternator wires, vtec and few more clips that do not reach.

Depending on what H22 you a have JDM or USDM the distributor can get a little confusing. The 92-95 JDM H22 distributor is an internal coil and using the H22 harness plug you can splice the plug on to the y8 harness. The wires are not color matching so youll have to match the y8 harness dizzy wires pin for pin to the H22 dizzy plug.

There is many other variables depending on what you have so first you need to know what you have and go from there.

Figure out what year engine you have and year or JDM OR USMD dizzy. You can figure this out by this

JDM 92-95 dizzy = internal coil 2 plugs, 1 is a 7 pin the other is a 2 pin

USDM 92-95 dizzy = external coil I cant remember number of pins and plugs

JDM I believe 96 up could be wrong off a year or two... = 1 plug 8 pin.

Injectors plugs from 92- 95 will be white/cream/grey and will have a resistor box

Newer style will be similar to what is on your y8 harness or like what is found on a F20B.

Hopefully this helps you a little bit. Im not on HT much but you can message me if you have any more questions.
