d15 bottom end with y8 head
i have a friend that has a d15 bottom end from a 92-95 hatch and i plan on putting pistons when i get it but i know it is a stupid question but will it work with my y8 head

yes it will !! its not a bolt and play but it is a very common swap, look under minime that is what they are called normally !

So I assume by your sig that this D15 bottom end will be installed into your 97 EX using your Y8 head? If the motor is a JDM D15B SOHC VTEC then the Y8 head will bolt up with no modification at all. If the D15 is a nonVTEC D15Bx (x would represent the suffix #) like as in a D15B7 or D15B2 then you will need to remove the oil jet from the top of the block and from there the Y8 head is a direct bolt on.
Since the motor is coming from an EG, you will need to change the driver's side mount bracket on the block to the one from your Y8 and reuse your mount. After that it's basically as if you are replacing your stock Y8 longblock with another one.
