D Series into Integra

Hello all,

I'm in the process of building a race car. I bought an Integra shell for my B18B1 swap and since I’ll have a perfectly good integra shell sitting around and a Civic motor, I decided to put the D15B7 from the Civic into the Integra. I have two friends who have done similar swaps (OBD1 D series into Integras) and their cars are running fine. Mine, however, is not.

*****
The problem I'm having now is:

1.) When I turn the key to accessory, the fuel pump does not prime, and

2.) When I turn the key to start the car, I can hear the relay click, but the starter does not crank-- instead, the radiator fan starts.

*****
The car did this once before, but I tried starting it over the course of a couple of days and eventually it cranked over VERY slowly out of the blue.

It ran for a while, perfectly fine—mind you, and then started behaving as mentioned above.

*****
Here are some details around the swap:
  • Car is a '97 OBD2A Integra with manual transmission
  • Engine is out of a 93 Civic DX with manual transmission
  • I am using the OBD 1 ECU from the Civic with a jumper harness
  • I am using the OBD 2 engine harness and I have modified it
    • Soldered OBD1 injector clips onto it
    • Soldered OBD1 alternator clip onto it
      • https://www.hamotorsports.com/obd2-alternator-obd1-harness.html
    • Lengthened IAT sensor to fit onto Civic engine
    • OBD 1 distributor with conversion harness
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: D Series into Integra

Why don't you just get another B series motor instead of using the D15? Integras are slow as shit even with a B18B1 and you're running a SOHC non-VTEC???

This is the swap inside of the car for those of you interested:

Got the car cuz it ran well and had a clean shell. I really want this thing running so I can get started on caging my Civic for next year...

It's still slow as shit, DICKWAD. If you don't like people's comments, don't make a lame ass thread about stupid shit no one bothers to do.

^This is the reason the Honda community is going to shit.

I wish I could pitch in and help, but I'm not quite sure about the solution to your problem. Hopefully someone in here will be able to though. I just came in here to say that a car's driving characteristics go far beyond just what motor is in it. I'm sure it will be fun to throw around a track even with a SOHC in it, depending on what kind of other components you're running on your car. Good luck!

Thanks bud. Gonna try and look at potential grounding issues as a friend of mine said sporadic behavior like this can be caused by forgetting to attach one or two ground wires. Then I'll check power harness to alternator.

Also this isn't going to be my track car lol. I'm probably going to daily it and enjoy the MPGs.
