Do they have vehicle speed sensors? i dont thinks so but im not sure. will a p28 computer look for look for it. reason i'm asking is because a friend of mine is putting his d16y8 in a 91 hatch and he is going to use a crx si tranny and wants to know if the p28 looks for it. thanks

All transmissions has a VSS, whether it be mechanical/cable or electronic, there's one on the tranny. Every ECU looks for the speed sensor (on mechanical speed sensors, it looks for the output at the cluster), including the P28. No VSS signal = no VTEC. BTW, I hope your friend realizes that a P28 is an OBD-1 ECU and wil not plug directly into his 91 hatch as the electronics are totally different.
