Crank opinions on LS/VTEC
What crankshaft have you guys seen on the LS/VTEC that have performed the best but still maintained some sort of reliability. I'm not sure what to go with. I have heard maybe b17 crank because shorter stroke = more RPM's but I'm not all too sure that is logical.
Any opinions would be of great great appreciation.

If you are going the LS vtec route, then stick with your LS crank. The purpose of the swap is to maintain the longer stroke. If you were going b20, then I might say b17 or 16 crank, but I like displacement better. The LS crank will have no problem spinning to 8k, all that is need is a set of ARP rod bolts and some balancing. If you want to spin higher, then add a block girdle and some Forged rods.
Once again, there is no reason to swap cranks in the LS motor.

Yea, I am getting forged rods (look at the sig)
The reason I was going to change cranks was the fact that I've heard that the crank is the weakest part of the entire b18a engine.....did you mean to go with a gsr crank (b18c) or what?

LS/GS/RS are all the same. Now the weakest part of the LS block is really the lack of a block girdle, like on the GSR, and piston oil squirters. The crank has a longer stroke compared to the GSR crank, so therefore it can't rev as high. However, when you replace the rod bolts with a stronger unit(ARP), balance the bottom end, and add a block girdle from the GSR, you now are able to reb just like the GSR. Forged pistons are recommended, but if you are looking to spin to 8-8.5k, you should be just fine.

Re: Crank opinions on LS/VTEC (e-drunkWAFFLES)
Thanks man for the help.
I really wanna go all out with this build (reasonably) so I'm going for forged JE pistons and rods, boring the block to 2.0l and resleeving it, etc. I just wasnt for sure if there was a better crank for my particular application.
