Default cotter pin size (yup I searched)

whats the exact size of cotter pin I need for my 97 civic ?

I know I could just bring the cotter pin to the store and match it up but im going to the store to buy everything I need before I begin my swap so it would be useful to know.

Also, I've searched and found I need a 8mm/5/16 punch for the shift linkage pin, sound right ?

Thanks

If you are talking that pin then yes it is eight mm
But I would not buy it at your local hardware
it will slip out if you even found the right size
go to honda and put up a new one

it doesnt matter. just go to a honda dealer and ask for some cotter pins. they will prolly give them to you for free. they gave them to me for free when i asked. if you get ones that are too long, then cut them to size.

Yup, thats what i did. Went to h-dealership and they handed me a hand full of cotter pins of various sizes for free. They do the same with nuts and washers too.
