Converting obd2 motor to obd1

I have a 92 vx hatch getting a obd2 vtec motor - I want to use the civics wiring harness w/ a p30. What will I need to change on the motor... dizzy? injectors? alternator? is that all? is there a way to rewire them or do I have to buy obd1 stuff? any help would be appreciated.

JDM engine don't have OBDII like the USDM. They only have what equivalent to OBDI here in the US.

You are wrong. They not the same as USDM (JDM kinda stay with OBD2a style ECU), not OBD1 style.

All you have to do is repin it. It is the Same dizzy as OBD1, but the plugs are different.

you have to change the injector clips. They are as same as OBD1, but the clips are different.

Yes, OBD2 has a different plug then OBD1. You can either: rewire it, or buy a OBD1 alt.

You have a VX so you have to do the "VX fix". That means you have to change your 5 wire o2 to a 4 wire o2. You will find the "how to" in the big H22a at the top of this forum.

If you do not want to rewire them, buy a 96+ integra harness (GSR being the less wiring). It will plug into your civic harness and you will only have to run wires from the shock tower to the ECU (knock).

Plus, a P30 is not the best for a ITR motor. You should get a: chipped P28 or a p72.

awesome!!! thanks for the help!!!

about the ecu: isn't p28 sohc? and p72 dual intake mani? or does it not make a diff?

You would be correct. You chip it with better fuel and ignition maps to better proform (more HP) for your engine.

Yes, the p72 is a dual runner, but you could chip either one for better performance.

how about chipping the p30? i saw a prog w/ 48oo vtec x and 10k rpm

That is good to chip. You have to run a knock sensor thou. P28 = no knock.

That rpm limiter is a little high (for the chip)

Re: Converting obd2 motor to obd1 (ek2121)

damn thanks a ton for that dizzy diagram - that saves a headache or two for me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif So i was just over and my buddies garage and we noticed alot of wires need to be extended, but i think all of the plugs are going to end up matching up. Alot of the wires' colors are different, but im just going to repin the dizzy and give it a whirl.

i was also thinking of chipping the ecu, but have heard that you can really screw up the ecu easily, but exactly how difficult is this "chip" to install? i cant see it being all that difficult.

i definatley agree with ek2121 about the rev limiter though... i dont see why youd want it much higher than stock unless youve got headwork done - be careful man
