converting eg into OBD2 for smog...
Sup guys.. I have some questions for you guys... I am trying to install a 98 gsr motor into my 95 eg... I want to get it Bar'd here in CA...
*Wonderingis it possible to convert there obd1 car to obd2 ?
*In the OBD2 integra, the gas tank has a evap sensor, would that prove to be a problem to change to OBD2?
*Does anyone have any instructions of changing the whole in dash harness to work in the stock eg center console?
*Would it be easier and possible to convert everything to obd1 even with the VIN# there on the block?
Any help guys would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You dont need to convert to obd2 to pass, you will pass with obd1. As long as your engine is same year or newer than your car. It just has to have all the EG emission stuff and all the wiring looking stock. So just convert the engine to obd1.

If I were going to convert to OBD1, wouldnt I just have to get the ecu, and thats it?.. Because all the plugs fit right and it will run with just some re-pinning..

Thats what I was thinking... We were wondering if we'd be able to run it as a 95 motor (OBD1) but wont the ref go by the VIN or do they even check the year marking on the head?

The automotive school i go to is also where the state ref is located. The engine will pass as long as it is newer than the car.

Your absolutely correct about smogging it and it has to the same as that year motor...Thats the reason I am posting to see if any one has actually converted over to obd2 or that someone has smogged there obd2 motor as a obd1..and has gotten it actually passed...It looks like thats the way I will be going with ...
