98 civic = OBD2a Unless it's been rewired for OBD2b....
but only two plugs is strange... there should be three, and one in the ECU that you do not use.

take pics of the plugs and wiring if you can.

if you don't know witch one you need bring it to your local shop and let them look at it for

your car is a 98 so you'll need obd2a

and obd2b motor harness will not work in a 96-98 without changing the dash harness to 99-01 i know this for a faq i been there and done that

ok i pulled out the hardness that goes inside the firewall into the ecu and i found 2 plugs that plug into the ecu (grey and blue connector) and also next to it is the green connector....

Now about 1 foot down the hardness i found a brown connector taped around the hardness with a cover over the plug with 17 wires??
also inside the cabin attatched to the other green plug i have another connector that is capped off and its (red)?

I believe this is a obd2b engine hardness with obd2b motor

where can i locate the missing "a" connector??

you need a 96-98 motor harness and you good to go

time to hit up junkyard or ebay or local shop
