Car pegs off at 2500rpm! HELP!

Ok, heres the deal. I just finished putting in an obd1 GSR motor into my 94si. The car started on the first try and all was well. Well, the first time I test drove it, I realized that something is wrong...the car pegs of at 2500rpm, as if thats the rev limiter. FYI, I do have a CEL (7 and 14), and I was wondering if it could be my TPS? My idle is perfect and everything, and the car drives fine, it just cuts fuel off at 2500 rpm. Please help me, I can only drive at 45mph tops because of this!

fix the problems before trying to drive the car....unless you like screwing up the engien wrose. the reason it is srev limiting so low is because something is wrong.....so FIX the 2 codes and then try and drive it.

The car drives perfectly, the codes wont result in "screwing up the engine worse". I understanding that fixing the codes is key, but i was asking how. I need to recalibrate the TPS...thats the fix.

it sounds like its in safe mode fix the codes

actually it can. it is runnign super rich with very retarded timing, enough to run the car to get to a dealer or repair facility. this can lead to excess carbon build up, catalytic converter problems and raw gas in the cylinders certainly doesnt help ring seal.

you need to run the tests in the repair manual for code 7 and 14.

running super rich, with very retarded timing. It is NOT doing that. However, perhaps you know the answer to my questions. How do I go about testing the voltage running through the TPS? My tps is held on with screws (opposed to rivets), so it can easily be removed and/or loosened. I'm pretty sure i'm supposed to put one probe onto the red/blue wire, but where does the black probe go (and please don't say a generic "ground"). I was told by several others that it needs to go onto one of the other wires, but which one?!

Re: (EH3Civic)

on the tps
green/white= sensor ground
red/blue= signal
yellow/white= +5v
so when throttle = closed you should have 0v between green/white and red/blue
so when throttle = open you should have 5v (more like 4.9) between green/white and red/blue
and with the key in the on position you should have 5v between green/white and yellow/white

Alrighty, thanks Kenny. Yesterday I tried using where the green/white and red/blue hooks up to the shock tower connector, and I still didnt get anything, but i'll try to check it right at the sensor this time.
