Can N E 1 Help Me Out with My Swap?
Hey sup guys,
I'm new to this but What I wanna know is If i swap a 98 GSR motor thats a OBD2 engine into a 93 si hatchback And run a OBD 1 ECU will that run the motor correctly in my car? Or do you guys prefer just converting everything over and running OBD2 since the motor is OBD2? I was told that running the OBD 1 ecu on a obd 2 motor wouldn't effect the performance and would run the same and would be alot easier to install the wiring harness Since its OBD1 N E info can help!!!!. I also have a OBD2 98 GSR ECU that I am willing To trade for a OBD 1 if anyone has one for a trade or sale,or can help me out feel free to email me @ Chunkiye@hotmail.com THANKS!

well actually it will affect the performance. u will run better with the obd1. and yes it will be easier to install cuz there are less stuff to hook up with the obd1.

OBD1 ECU's have less parameters on the motor.... That's the reason they seem to run better.... I hate the stock OBD1 P72... It seems like the motor lags especially if you have the simplest mod being a CTR intake cam. The VTEC is too low for that cam and I hate the IAB ****.... I would recommend a chipped P28... They are simple, feel way stronger than the stock GSR or even a chipped GSR for that matter, have no IAB control (you can have the IAB's pinned open or just remove the plate as i do), and it doesn't look for KS input...
