breaking up at 1/4 throttle, hauls *** otherwise HELP (jdm b16 in 90 STD hatch)
pissing me off. ive replaced everything, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, i have no cat, and the motor is fresh. its not the injectors, and the fuel pump is mint. you think its the coil? it only breaks up at like cruising pedal pressure, doesnt matter the rpm, just at like 1/4 throttle, btw, no CELs. help!!!

im not sure if the TPS would cause that to happen at 1/4 throttle but it could be coil also..only one way to find out, change it and let us know if it helped

my prelude use to do that too....but i rebuilt the engine and it hasnt happen since
you might want to replace or check your O2 sensor or reset your ECU and see if that helps any.

Usually part throttle break up is either two things, fuel related or ignition. Since you said you replaced most of your ignition components and would make sure you either get a high flow fuel pump or bump your FP up more..

Well if he is getting hesitation especially from 3 to 4k then its not a rich issue.. But I guess we have to wait from confirmation till he gets back..

Re: breaking up at 1/4 throttle, hauls *** otherwise HELP (Jason kiDD)
I just put a B18B in my '94 Civic H-back CX. It has the same problem, but only when the engine is not fully warmed up. Once engine warms up, problem goes away; however, "Check Engine" light comes on at that point. Code is for bad O2 sensor. Replaced sensor, but problems (break up at 1/4 throttle and "check engine") remain. All ignition parts and fuel pump are new. What next to try?

Re: breaking up at 1/4 throttle, hauls *** otherwise HELP (roberev)
Okay I already told ya'll what to do.. The reason why you get hesitation is because the pump is not flowing the right pressure at low Rpms hence why you get a slight bucking from 2k to 4k. You need to get a fuel pressure regulator and high flow fuel pump to negate this effect..
If you are is missing at high revs then usually its the ignitor in the distributor that is either bad or is not getting a clean connection..

Re: breaking up at 1/4 throttle, hauls *** otherwise HELP (Jason kiDD)
no, its not the fuel pump. the fuel pump is stock but flowing just fine. it has absolutly nothing to do with RPM, NOTHING. the car will do it from 1k all the way to 8k if you want it to. but ud have to be on it less than 1/4 throttle for it to do it. i know for a fact that the motor is running perfectly strong, i ran a 14.800 las night with a 2.26 60 foot and a 93 mph trap speed, so the car pulls perfectly. its just the very light throttle tha pisses me off. any other suggestions? the timing is advanced now, the fuel is good, and its got a nice hot spark. now what?

Re: breaking up at 1/4 throttle, hauls *** otherwise HELP (I Have an STD)
Again what is it hesitation/bucking at 1/4 throttle?! Or missing/break up?!
And if you are using your stock fuel pump then that is the problem right there. Get a walbro high flow. Trust me I had the same issues and until I changed out the fuel pump no matter what I did it was always there at part throttle. Stock pumps sometimes dont flow well at constant part throttle under load..

If your map signal was off or vacumn hose loose your car would shut off completely at high RPM.. Been there done that already too..
