Beware of HMOTORSONLINE.com

Like it says beware of hmotorsonline.com, i had ordered a complete JDM h22 swap from that shit hole about a year ago before i really knew anything about hondas or motors or anything so when it arrived at my house i saw DOHC VTEC and i was like shitting my pants i was so happy i didnt know anything about motors to point out all of the mistakes that i will get into. Well it took me about 4 months to put the motor in because it was just a project i had going and i was in school and had no time to work on it so i finally finished the swap and at this point the warranty he gives has allready long passed so now theres nothing i can do. Like i said i ordered jdm and block says h22a1 as far as i know thats usdm not jdm, vtec pressure switch was removed and was plugged with a bolt. So i bought a vafc do bypass the pressure switch to engage vtec and i finally get it on the road and i noticed when i shift it drops out of vtec and had a lot of lag until 5000rpms the tranny also grinded really bad going into second and 3rd at high rpms so i looked at the tranny code and it says h2a8 wtf thats an accord trans it suppossed to be h22 tanny i ordered a complete swap, spent 2800 all together and got totally f*cked. I hope nobody else gets as screwed as i did, so just be carefull when u guys order your motors as much good things you here about them they still dick people over. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

I bought my swap from Steve back in '02. I've had no problems with the motor and no problems with Steve.

I give hmotorsonline.com https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

the problem, is that there is not much u can do with checking trannies and their serviceability without tearing them apart. If u had got the car running underwarranty and had those issues I am sure Steve would have took care of u. As far as the pressure switch goes, did u ever talk to steve about it? Its too bad about that. I have had worse dealings with places. Trust me. As a matter of fact I am sueing a place right now. They sent me a H22 setup with supposedly 60,000 miles. Well as it turns out on a cold compression test one of the cylinders makes 15 PSI. The valvetrain has more sludge than Cher does on her face, valve cover is burned from intense heat (engine prolly ran low on oil), and not to mention multiple sensors broken. They aparantly have a 90 day warranty. The problem is they wont up hold it. Anyways sorry about your issues man with Hmotorsonline. I personally had nothing but awesome engines from them.

MadnessRacing 04-12-2004 08:29 PM

hhmmm hmotorsonline again damn this dude is burning people left and right, i rather buy a motor a the junk yard,i dont like that foo steve either he has a bad attitude,he doesnt know how to treat people right.

Re: (MadnessRacing)

have you even called him to explain the situation?

ive gotten a handfull of swaps from steve at HMO and have never had a problem that he wouldnt take care of.

example, my FIRST swap back in 01, B16 into my 94 coupe. transmission had no reverse. it took about 2.5 months to actually start the swap once i got the engine and another few weeks to finish. steve still gave me a transmission for shipping costs only.

ive done swaps for friends who got motors from him, most are pristine without any problems, any problems that do arise he always has taken care of.

i havent had to deal with him in almost a year (as ive been doing mostly my own car and some nissan swaps) so maybe things have changed but i still give him and his business 2 thumbs up

i think steve is a good guy and a good seller

KNIVES 04-13-2004 12:17 AM

bought a full h22 swap for my ek from hmotors. It looked and runs great. I dynoed 179 with it. my friend bought a type r swap.....he also got a good engine. Just finished a swap 2 weeks ago. It was a b16 into an eg. The engine and tranny were great. The only problem I have with hmo is that two of my friends had to drive to tyler to pick up there engines. The shipping co. drove the fucking truck with no engines in them to my friends shop. Other than that I have had good luck with steve.

I also agree the HMO is a very good source for swaps. I haven't personally bought anything but I've installed 5 different swaps for other people and they have all been clean with no problems. You're buying a used motor/tranny/parts so there is always a chance that there could be something wrong or missing. From my experiences and others I've read about, it seems that Steve will try his best to make things right if there is a problem.

I plan on buying a K-series swap from them sometime in July... I will be as specific as possible... *cross fingers*

ameenit 04-14-2004 01:24 AM

I needed to swap a B20 into my girls EK.. to make it easier i wanted a full swap. So she calls HMO herself and orders a full B20 swap. I thought they were going to screw her over because she is a girl and what not. Turns out it was Steve that was helping her. He knew exactly what she needed (from the shorter intake manifold to a badass GSR tranny). We just sent the payment right now and cant wait to put it in!!

Funny, the people bashing HMO all have very few posts...

I personally ordered my swap through them and it was PERFECT. Steve was very helpful and had my motor at my door the day i requested. You can not beat that for service. Motor sales is a hard job, you can't intall and test every motor, there are bound to be some lemons, but Steve is very good about replacing bad parts. My buddy was shipped a motor with out an intermediate shaft. He called steve up 2 months later when he was doing his swap and Steve sent one out free, thats is some great customer service, and very hard to find in the industry now. I give HMO https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

The vast majority of people that bitch about companys and how they got screwed, are people that complain first and talk to the company last. Most of them will piss and moan on here before even talking to the company about the problem. Then when they do finally talk to the company it turns out that they can be helped, then they have a "oh, well it looks like I talked them into helping me........" follow up story.

I bought my h22a swap from steve back in april of 03. It runs great. Had an issue with a crank pulley 3 months after i recieved the motor; issue was solved with a 5 minute phone call and a one week wait. I've even called Steve on other unrelated questions (about sensors and such) and he takes the time to talk to me and help me out.
