Re: best swap????? (Vanilla4215)
yeah that was the idea just don't know wich one yet cuz it has the b16 tranny but a b18a longblock could be used for turbo or ls vtec so its a drop between the two so everyone that has an opinion please throw in your 2 cents worth.

Re: best swap????? (sinep)
If you pick the b18a the b16 tranny will make the motor quicker because of the gearing, but if you plan on going turbo, then the gears would probably be to short. Turbos usually like longer gearing. That tranny would go good with a ls/vtec, but to build a ls/vtec the right way and make it realiable, that could mean some big bucks. You should bullet proof the block before you do the ls/vtec. Get some high compresison forged pistons, stronger rods, arp rod bolts, and hone the block because it will be a pretty old block. You could then drive around like this, and save money for the vtec head. Or you could even build that head, with some big cams, titanium retainers, and valve springs, and that would make a pretty quick ls motor. But that would be just the start of it. There are tons more things to do to make the motor stonger, but don't ignore the rest of your car. Be sure to work on the suspension, and the brakes.
