Default b20z/gsr engine break-in and start up

alright...... have a fully rebuilt and balanced b20z bottom end with oversized stock pistons, ls rods, arp rod bolts, and head studs. On the top end is a stock but redone and reseated gsr head with as of right now stock cams and gears, s2 intake mani, cai.

what im most worried about is the start up and break in process once it is in my car which is an 01 gsr. Everything i have found amongst the books and web so far is that my ecu will be ok for the break in process. Shop where i had it build is worried i will be starving the now 2.0l for fuel and wont run right. looking for some serious input here from someone who has built there b20's and what theyv done. since i only want to build this engine once.

i want to hold off till after break in to get injectors, fpr, and s200 with obdI ecu, and then get a really good tune.

no need to break it in just put it on the dyno and tune it

I always crank the motor with with no spark plugs to prime the oil system. Then start up get to operating temp. Then shut it off and double check everything. Then go up the road and head to my tuner.

isnt there a step where i have to seat the rings to the walls, sounds like a bit much to start it and get it tuned all in the same day....

besides i dont have the s200 yet so im gunna be using my ecu and i think it would be pointless

the first 3-5sec of starting the motor the rings will seat then the rings will seat more when you put a load on the motor

just drive it or tow it to the dyno and tune it and dont go over 5000rpms when driving it to the dyno

and search engine break in

alright well i've looked over evrything and i get the general idea on the steps to take....

but being that its a 2L now and the compression been bumpd a lil bit will my stock injectors, regulator, and ecu be sufficent enough for first 500 miles under lite loads?? i dont want to starve it for fuel..

I recommend you start it up just like any old day, drive it to the tuning shop and then tune it. The tuning process will seat your rings in. Please let your engine warm up first before doing anything, including driving it. When it warms up feel free to wamer jam on it. I know i sure as hell did when i broke my d15b in. Piston rings need force to be seated in, so don't listen to anyone who says when you start it up the piston rings are seated in already. I will tell you that you have less then 25 miles to make haste of that fresh honing pattern and make those rings eat off the rough edges the honing makes. Break it in like you plan on driving it, or suffer the consequences. You'll kick your own *** if you baby those rings and they never seat in.
