B20b - running, but not like it could/should
Just finished the installation of a 97 B20b (P8R head, 4-2-1 header, AEM fuel rail, ACT extreme p/plate with street/strip disc, lightened flywheel, running the stock b20 distributor/rewired to obd1 PR4 ecu) into my 89 dx hatch. It fired right off, threw a 43 code (o2 sensor)..changed the 2 black wires and restarted. No code. Idle is erratic, 1000 rpm, 900 rpm. up to 1500 rpm and then down to like 300 rpm and almost stalls...On the road, it sputters/coughs some and them seems to pull pretty hard, but far short of what I would have expected out of this engine. Something is just not right. I have yet to replace the stock fuel pump, (have a walbro 255) and I suspect the throttle body is defective. Got it used, and it has been on at least 3 cars, one of which had a turbo. What ideas do you guys have ? Dizzy? Fuel supply? Some sensor? Timing? Maybe someone who has already done a b20 swap can help me out. Thanks for and suggestions..........

Sounds like your timing might be off or your distributor wiring is wrong. Also check your iacv, it might fix your idle problem. It could be a number of things, so just check everything over again.

it threw a code 41 for O2 first, then we fixed that, now it has a code 43 after about 5 to 10 mins of running time, its for like vaccum or fuel suppy i believe.... the dizzy wiring is correct, and dizzy and timing is unadjusted, its right. i did the harness for the car and we have both been over it several times, we have replaced the Iacv also. the throttle body made my last car run like ****, actually the throttle body came with a b16 swap i bought form hmotors and that car didn't run right till i put a new throttle body on.This is the 3rd car this tb has been on and the 3rd car it doesn't run right, so i think thats our problem.

43 is fuel supply. Check your injectors or fpr. Are you using the civic fuel line? The hole in the civic fuel line is smaller than in the integra so that could be a problem. Take care of your codes first. The throttle body doesn't go bad, only the sensors go bad which would give you a code. TPS code or MAP. If you think your throttle body is clogged, then take it off and clean it with some carb cleaner. Hope you get it fixed.

i have cleaned that throttle body and replaced both sensors, every car i had it on ran like **** then i would replace it and it would run fine, i still think the throttle body has alot to do with it, but we still haven't put his 255 walbro in yet...
