B20a1 block + B18C1 head
ok, well heres my plan. im buying a 89 prelude 2.0s with 120K miles on it. im also getting a B18c1 head.
the prelude has a small slip in the tranny. itll slip time to time. very rare. so i plan to build the tranny or replace clutch.
but now the Qs.
1. has anyone heard of this being done?
2. is the B20a1 a good motor to use?
3. i heard it has bad rod lentgh ratio, is that true?
4. how hard will be to swap the heads?
5. should i use a different head?
6. what the different between ITR and CTR heads?
7. should i waste my money on this or boost the B20a1?
8. what would you do?

Re: B20a1 block + B18C1 head (Manuel)
from what ive read on here and other sites the prelude b20's and b21's arent very good engines , ya they have decent torque but while building these engines honda was just starting to use frm (fiber reinforced metal) sleeves and they were horrible bc the rings would get torn up sleeves go to hell the burn oil from what ive have they were notorius for this . only way to solve this probablem is to get it resleeved but the r/s ratio still isnt the best . Ive never owned one of these but this is just info ive read here on h-t

Re: B20a1 block + B18C1 head (IAluder95)
Trying to bolt a B18C1 or any DOHC VTEC head to the older Prelude B20 blocks isn't going to happen without a lot of custom machine work. It's not like using the newer CRV B20 or LS block where the parts are more close and interchangeable. The old B20's are the bastard stepchild to the B series of today, nothing is really interchangeable like the ones that people are used to today - B18C, B20B/Z, B16A, etc.

From what I have heard, the head bolt pattern is different on this block. This would certainly make dropping a B18C head onto this block more difficult. On the other hand, I have heard of people welding up the head bolt holes and drilling new ones to accommodate a P72 or PR3 head. Of course, this will be neither simple nor cheap.
