Default b20 into 2nd gen crx... Shopping list?

Ok, my buddy has a '91 crx si he wants to make a hybrid. The d16 is on it's last legs...

I've suggested a b20 w/ b16 head.

Shopping list?

I'm thinking b20z, b16 head, itr cams, valve springs, retainers, cam gears, y2 tranny...

What ecu?

What else?

We plan to do the stock b20z into the crx, and then build a b16 head and then do the oil passages, etc later... I guess he can run on stock b20z ecu until then...

Help!

Oh yeah, the goal is to run 12's all motor, or 11's turbo... I think he prefers all motor, though.

The B20 ecu will definatly not work. To run the B20 stock, you need a 90-92 teg LS ecu and also a 90-92 LS intake manifold. The B20 ecu/manifold are not gonna work. You might want to consider this if your going CRVtec later. You will still have to buy a Vtec ecu/head/manifold/ect. later, so you will be wasting money. Just do a search on the subject, and check out www.crvtec.com.

BACKWARDS!! do the b16 swap first, then build your b20z block on the side. this way you will end up buying less stuff in the end. b/c it would've all come with your b16 swap. think about it. doesn't this way sound better.

exactly! You need more stuff from the b16 motor than from the b20. But if the car is not a daily driver(i.e. work, home, work, home), take your time. Why waste money where it is not needed. You could use that extra money in somewhere else that will be more benficial. Build the head, build the block, and trust me, rebuilding is not cheap. To get everything done right, your looking a spending big G's.

hrm, you guys may be right!

But which will be more drivable? b20z or b16a2 (160whp)?

For the money on a complete swap, I'm thinking the b20 will be cheaper. He found a complete one for ~1k. As for header, I'll give him my old oem itr header...
