Re: B20 in a crx best tranny (Newman)
I scored one for fifty bucks. The guy said it grinded. I put it in with some Honda fluid and it never grinded. But I'd expect to pay 450, 650 if it has the lsd

I agree, Y1 with the LSD is your best option. It has taller gearing like the GSR and will work well with the torque from the B20. Keep in mind not all Y1s come with an LSD so make sure you ask for one with the LSD. I paid $100 more but it was well worth it.

Re: B20 in a crx best tranny (Giovannie)
you are right about finding one, i have been looking since february. i rebulit 80% of it and that price is about right, i paid a little less, but yes it was more than i thought it would be.
i have seen jdm synchro sets somewhere on here before.
the usdm gears will be different but the synchros should be the same, i would think.

i think that would be more trouble and money than it is worth.
here is a tranny comparison chart...

have you tried posting "WTB: b16 cable tranny" kinda post?
also, there is a couple on the parts trader on the east coast too. search for "cable" in "Honda/Acura: Engine and Drivetrain"
http://www.thepartstrader.com
also, email Chuck Evans at evanshonda@earthlink.net or http://www.evanshondaspecialist.com/

Re: B20 in a crx best tranny (Giovannie)
i understand. i got screwed through the parts trader once that is why i made a 960 mile round trip to pick up my tranny.
i guarantee Evans. they are an established company and are very trustworthy. that is where i get almost all of my honda stuff. they are about 15 minutes fro my house.
good luck with the search.

Re: B20 in a crx best tranny (Jeff C)
i have a y1 w/ lsd and it's great, 100 on the freeway is about 6k rpm, not to shabby. i love it, it hooks great and i know it's the reason i've won several races, it's the perfect setup.
although, i drove my friends b20 with built ls head and ls tranny and i cant imagine driving it with a y1 cause w/ his aluminum flywheel it revs up so fast y1 gears would be almost too short. especially when he let me race a firebird in it squeezing his 80 shot, it will rev from 3k to 7.5k in about a second, it's crazy.
allmotor=y1
nos, turbo=ls
