b18c1 in ek coolant problem (not a leak) and question
first the question, I know the gsr takes almost a liter more coolant than the civic will...i assume i'd use the civic coolant capacity (3.8l) to fill since i still have the tiny civic half radiator ? Or do I need to put some more to compensate for the additional cooling capacity of the b18c1 ?
And the problem, I got about 3 liters of coolant into the car and the rad is just topped off (aka if i put anymore it will overflow out of the rad) I'd assume this is air in the system but I'm not sure ? What would be the ideal way to solve this problem ?
If it's air I'm thinking maybe start the car cold with the rad cap off and let the coolant cycle through the motor then fill the until i get in the remaining .8 liter of coolant ?
Thanks for any help

i had the same problem with my b18. i had to "burp" it first then bleed. it.
to burp it start the car cold with the rad. cap off. hold the car at about 2k - 2.5k. you will then see air coming out as well at a little coolant too. it will be easier to have a friend fill it as you are holding the rpms up. once you thing you got most the air out put the rad. cap back on and bleed it. ( the reason i did it that way is because it took me for ever the just bleed it caused i changed the water pump.)

ya bleed the air out. and that stock civic radiator should be fine unless you go forced induction or decide to really push the motor.

Re: b18c1 in ek coolant problem (donkiman)
I know it'll be fine I'm just not sure whether I should put 3.78liters like the the civic manual states for coolant or a little more to compensate for the gsr motor...the gsr cooling systems calls for 4.7liters but I know it has a bigger rad so...
