B18C1 + 99 Civic EX + $1400 AEM EMS = headache?
Forgive me for asking really dumb n00b questions, but I've finally succumbed to looking into a swap instead of pushing my boosted SOHC into high 200hp range. I'm sure many of these questions may have been asked before; a one hour browse yielded me little information.
First off, I have the AEM EMS 30-1010 unit, which was controlling my SOHC turbo setup. It is my understanding that this particular ECU will work only with 99-01 Integras due to the wiring harness. Will I be able to use my existing harness with a B18 motor from 96-98 (the earlier OBD-II) range?
Second--A/C. I have the half-condenser setup that's been OEM in my EJ. What all would I need to retain my CURRENT A/C system? Brackets? Pulleys? Belts? Different compressor?
Third--engine mounts. I was under the impression that this swap would be the easiest of all swaps. Does everything line up properly, w/out having to buy new mounts?
Fourth--halfshafts. Do I use Integra halfshafts?
Fifth--Linkage. Integra Linkage only, no D-series linkages?
Sixth--gauge cluster. Yes, REALLY stupid question. Can I use my existing EX cluster w/ the B18C1 motor? Will speed & revs show up accurately?
Seventh--JDM vs. USDM. I guess this relates more to the first question w/ the harness. I really don't want to have to part w/ my EMS. Are the JDM harnesses different? For that matter, what would be advantageous/disadvantageous of a JDM motor vs. a USDM motor?
Finally--anything I missed?
Again, sorry for what may seem like elementary questions--I've pretty much lived in the turbo forum for the past two years. Now that my second SOHC motor is dying, it's time for me to grow up and go twincam!

Ok! lets take it nice and slow.
1)When doing the swap you can use your 99 civic motor harness to wire up to the b18c. Helms book is great for references.
2) AC system is different.
3) You will need a few new mounts..
4)Use integras
5)Get new b-series shift linkage.
6) Yes
7) It's all wiring from the engine side. You dont have to touch the wires inside.

ac is the same but you will need a new ac bracket that bolts it up to the block.
Mounts- its not a big deal, get del sol mounts ( i forget which one)

Wow, thanks for the resources everyone... I appreciate it.
Alas, I've finally decided to sell my Civic... The G35 coupe'll be here in just a couple of months, so I'm selling off parts from the Civic, one by one, and converting the basic platform back to stock status. Keep posted in the next few weeks. I'll post parts for sale as soon as they come off my car.

Yeah, I'm starting to get a little jaded on the scene. Not to mention how HUGE of a drain on $$$ the Civic has become. The G35c will do everything my Civic does now, plus I have the reliability of a factory-fresh car. All that remains now is to convert my Civic back to stock (I have all the stock parts), and sell it.

Just buy the 350Z the G35 is more expensive and slower than the 350Z.

I know, I was hopping between the two... back and forth... I didn't like the Z when it first came out; I loved the G coupe when it first came out. I got a chance to sit in the G coupe for about 20 minutes when the pre-production car was at my local dealer. Then I watched the Best Motoring video on the Fairlady (350) Z. That definitely piqued my interest. Then reading more articles on the Z, and then finally watching "The Run" Z DVD tonight from Nissan. Ok! I really do love both cars! But the added utility of a rear seat, plus the fact that the loaded G35C 6MT vs the 350Z Track model, fully loaded... there's a very small difference between the two in terms of price. Also, the fact that I couldn't get a moonroof in the Z made the choice easy for me--G35c is the way to go!
