b18c swap questions...
This is a repost because the eg/ek civic forum is dead.....
Im am about to purchase a JDM b18c for my 97 coupe online, and I am going to have a little cash left over after the swap. My dilemma is that I can only afford to do ONE major upgrade with the money I have left. Here are my options...
1. New clutch/flywheel
2. New rods/rod bolts/head studs
3. New cams/cam gears
4. Other (suggestions?)
I am leaning toward either 1. or 2. because it would be easiest to do with the motor already out of the car, but i would get better results from the new cams/gears. I am going to have about $1000 to play with after its all said and done, so any suggestions are welcome . Keep in mind that I DO NOT have aftermarket exhaust OR intake, so those are a possibility as well, but i would rather do stuff that requires the engine OUT of the car to save a headache down the road. The car will be daily driver, so keep that in mind as well. Thanks in advance for the advice/suggestions.

Clutch/Flywheel.
Why?
Because they are wear items, and you don't know how the original ones were treated.
Plus why break a perfectly good engine apart only to replace rods? To me you can't beat a good Honda stock build.
Wait for it to give you trouble before you tear it apart man!
And really, there's nothing like a good clutch/flywheel combo. I love to have a nice firm clutch, and the flywheel can only help that B18C1.
Good luck!

Def go with the new clutch and flywheel.. When i did my swap i got a clutchmasters stage-1 clutch and only got my flywheel resurfaced.. its made a HUGE difference.. i would say its the best car mod ive ever done(besides the whole swap thing ).
