b18c running on si ecu question about vtec engagement.
i just got a 00b18c1 using a 99 si ecu and vetec pulls very hard and i was just wondering if it will still pull as hard if i lower the engagement to 5k?

dont think it will...Vtec is run by oil pressure and motor needs to spool up pretty good to get optimum vtec power.

if the motor is stock or just using bolt ons then 5k rpm is the optimal setting usually for GSR motors. anything less and you bog in higher gears under partial throttle, anything higher then this and you start loosing therefore you get the feeling as it pulls really hard.
try it move the vtec to 5800-6000rpm and run you'll see what i am talking about
4800-5200rpm from dynos I have done is perfect for most 1.8l block which are mildly built
