Default B18C into a 98 civic coupe

Whats up ya'll? I'm thinking of getting a B18C swap for my civic coupe and is that a good and worth the money? what kind of times do you all think it can do on street tires 14s 15s?I was thinking about the H22 and turbochargering it but too much work with too much weight, right? And the type Rs are out of my ball park lol. B16s everyone has and not too many have a gsr swap especially in a coupe. So is this worth the money and what kind of times you think it can do? thanks

GSRs are a nice set up, with a lot of potential for power.

You can get a complete one, with everything you need, for around $3500.

H22's break a lot of axles, and require cutting of the car, making it impossible to go back to stock (should it go that route).

yes i agree that the H22s do break axles but i don't think there is any cutting involved though. Just if the person wants both a/c and power steering some work must be done. I just want a good powerplant to do bolt ons and suspension work, nothing major and hit 13s. then again i'll probably turbocharger it and do some interals and hope for 11s but realistically 12s. 11s just sounds better lol.

It's not a lot of cutting, but the shifter in civics need to be moved farther back than the stock one.

Since prelude linkages are cables, rather than steel rods, they can't be cut and welded to be modified.

But with the money spent to put an H22 in, you'd be able to get a GSR swap and throw some mods on for about the same budget. hth

Get the h22. my 99 ek runs 13.9 while my bud with a 2000 ek with a gsr runs 14.4. There is no cutting involved. You will gave to grind the hump of the shifter but thats it. this was my first swap and wasn't all that hard.

if you ever have any plans to do auto crossing the added weight in the front wont help but the also most of the reasons hondas are fast is because of what the weight you have to figure out how much you want to spend and definatly make sure that your positive that you get what you want if you really do want a ITR its better to just wait and save your money because a year later when you still wish you had a type r its going to be a hell of a lot more money down the drain where you could have just waited and spent the extra 800 bucks and had what you wanted plus a limited slip differential...food for thought...I always wait to get exactly what I want now...if I always would have done that right now I would prolly have my car exactly the way I want it...

Just what all in modication sense have the 00 Gsr and the 99 H22 been through like bolts or are they stock? I am still alittle hesitate on this swap beacuse my orignal plan was to turbocharger the H22 and plan to hit 12s maybe 11s. But wouldn't that be way too heavy because it's already heavy the motor alone ya know. Again I haven't seen any ek gsr swaps or H22 swaps at my local track. I have seen gsr swaped hatchbacks but it's not the same cuz they are lightier and what not. and i know that the shiftlinkage has to modified some and i hear alot say the wieght isn't as bad as people say but shifting is what people complain about. I really don't know beacuse i havent seen any close up ya know. But hopefully i can figure this out. Because something has to go down this summer.lol thanks again ya'll for ya'll feedback and please keep it coming cuz i need be shifted in the right direction. again i'm looking for a swap with simple bolt ons and maybe some suspension work on street tires hit 13s.
