Re: B18B (OBD2 LS) swap into EK Coupe - Do I have all the parts needed?
Question Honda-Tech:
Using a D16y7 (( obd2a )) engine harness to plug up to a JDM obd2 LS:
The factory's plastic covers and tape prevent some of the connections from reaching their designated location i.e. fuel injector connectors and a couple other unknown plugs...
Should I just cut and modify, then wrap with electric tape ?
I'm stumped xD

I don't ever recall specifically doing a B-series swap into a '96 - '00 Civic, but I have done several in '92 - '95s, The only thing I recall having to extend was the IAT wiring and the O2 sensor wiring.

Well... Like...
I know they'll reach if I cut out the factory plastics and shizz...
It plugs right up.
But all the tape and plastics prevent that...
Any suggestions ?

It really doesn't make much difference, if you want it to look like it came from the factory you can take the loom off the wire a ways back, extend the wiring, reloom and use the plastic stuff from the JDM harness. Simply removing the plastic is fine too, it just wont look as neat.

Yea...
I asked around on b20vtec.
A suggestion was made that I cut// solder some wire from the JDM harness to compensate for the extensions needed to be made...
I'll figure something out and post progress...
Trial and Error here I come xD

Re: B18B (OBD2 LS) swap into EK Coupe - Do I have all the parts needed?
So far I haven't had to cut// splice any of the wires...
All I did was remove the factory e-tape and plastic covers and make the proper arrangement for most of the connectors to reach their corresponding location(s).
Haven't plugged EVERYTHING up yet...
But injectors, alternator, distributor, MAP, TPS, and IACV have all been plugged up.
Plan on using the plastic covers from the cut JDM harness.
Correct me if I've done anything wrong guys.

Oh... Do I need to do this if I'm re-using my DX harness ?

Ooohh so that's that extra 2-wire plug ?
*Nub Moment*
I believe one plugged into the thermostat and there's another just like it
(( IACV if I'm not wrong ))
And I won't be able to use my stock ECU for this right ?

Re: B18B (OBD2 LS) swap into EK Coupe - Do I have all the parts needed?
Correct, you'll need an OBD2A LS ECU (works perfectly and should comply with any local emissions laws) or OBD1 LS ECU (works perfectly, will not pass emissions in many areas) and finally OBD1 chipped and tuned ECU (generally runs best, costs the most and doesn't pass emissions in most areas)
Yes, simply use the plug on the cut JDM harness that came with the engine. (cut JDM harnesses are a great source of connectors and wire for doing engine swaps)

It's like 2 bucks for a pack at radio shack...it would look so much cleaner and last alot longer.....
Nice progress though.

Wil do.
Leaving it taped for now but I'll heat wrap most of the harness before
I drop that bad boy in.
