Re: b18b dropped in ek with times (kholmes)
baahh humbug!
I'll be nice first. From what I've seen, you can pull a 15.3-15.5 on it. That was with crappy tires. But those times were from a good driver.
Who knows how well YOU drive. In said of asking, go out run it yourself. That way you wont be disappointed when you run 16.1 and think you should be hitting 15.3

a b18b with a b16 transmission is a very nice setup.
it takes advantage of the low end of the b18b and the shorter gears bring the motor to life. with a good head setup the b18b can be a great first step in a pretty quick allmotor honda.
also the b18b is an awesome candidate for boost.

b16 tranny is not the best thing for b18b. first of all on the freeway you'll be revving high just to go 70-75. I know because my friend has a b18b with a gsr tranny in his 4dr civic. another friend that I know actually did time comparisons and found out that you only gain .1-.2 seconds off your quarter mile with the shorter gears. lets remember that Honda put the LS tranny with the LS motor for no reason when the b16 would be better. LS makes better power end, which is why it is better to have longer gearing. The DOHC VTECs have weak low end and need to just to the top end to get power, thats why shorter gears are there. The only tranny i would recommend is the ITR tranny because it has LSD. Its well worth the money.

ITR trannies are short geared like a b16. And if your gonna run cams on a nonvtec then your powerband moves up in the higher rpm's depending on the cams you have. 404's pull till 9,000 rpm's.

Yea, I was speaking assuming the LS motor was going to remain stock. But even with cams making your powerband stronger at the top, you're still going to be revving pretty high just to cruise on the freeway. I'll ask my friend next time he goes online what exact rpm he's at @65mph. BTW, I don't know too many people that rev to 9000rpm with a nonvtec LS, idealy, you want high compression pistons and some engine work to go that high.

Re: b18b dropped in ek with times (kholmes)
i ran 14.8 with 22x8x13 bogarts my car felt like is was laggin in 3rd and 4th gear
i ran 14.8 consistent until the semis at cmi in sacremento..
then i switched slicks to m/t 20x8x14 i ran a 14.3 in only 3 gears i was tryin to win 400 bucks then i broke out and i even stepped on the brakes.
i got a b18b intake jdm 4-1 headers and skunk manifold
i'll break 13's in august for sure

Re: b18b dropped in ek with times (mrctr)
This is what I ran with my EG last night.....
r/t 1.026
60' 2.310
330 6.339
1/8 9.685
MPH 75.12
1000 12.554
1/4 15.025
MPH 93.22
I could've hit 14's but only got 2 runs in...
My setup:
95 dx hatch
96 LS motor/LS tranny
usdm itr header
2.25" test pipe
2.25" SS custom exhaust
aem cai
act hdss clutch
15x7 wheels on 195/50 yokohama's
full interior and koni yellow full coilovers.
And the tranny does have long gears..If I could rev to atleast 7200-7400 I could finish the 1/4 in 3rd gear....I'm just shifting into 4th when I cross the 1/4 mile mark
