b18a1 swap in a 95 civic
hey guys i have a 95 civic ex 5spd with a d16z6. my buddie has an old 92/93 prelude with a b18a1 with automatic in it that hes getting rid of. my question is what all would be needed to switch my 5spd d16z6 for a automatic b18a1. He has the whole car sitting in the drive way i just need to know if there is any special parts (motor mount, etc..) that i need to buy before we start the swap or can i just unbolt the whole engine and tranny from both and stick in the new one? what parts do i need off the acura like axles, gauges, ????? any help would be greatly appreciated. my engine is just about gone with 189k and we have to have second car for my girlfriend and cant really afford to buy the engine of choice. were trying to do this as cheap as possible givin that i can get a new d16z6 for under 500 but really cant afford that right now. thanks

There is some confusion going on here:
B18A1 = 90-93 Integra engine
92/93 Prelude would have an F or H series engine which will be a total PITA when compared to the B series swap.
Also ditch the auto idea and find a compatible 5-speed tranny for the engine.
We need more exact info so that we can help you better.

You don't run a P28 VTEC ECU on an LS engine. Either run the OBD1 Integra LS/RS/GS 5-speed P75 or PR4 ECU.
Also if he runs a hydro tranny he will only need the matching intermediate shaft and 94-01 Integra axles for a 5-speed.

Re: (lonestar21)
Okay now I'm going to repeat myself once again here about the whole auto tranny issue.
Read this next line VERY carefully:
DROP THE IDEA OF SWAPPING THE AUTOMATIC TRANNY INTO YOUR CIVIC!!!
Is that clear enough?
Jeez man people are trying to help you here and you come back typing in all caps, ignoring advice, etc. If you don't want help then fuuck off. If you want help then start doing some searches here and listen to what we're suggesting.
The auto tranny will not bolt into your Civic chassis without having to cut off and reweld the frame side topside tranny bracket, and nobody makes a kit because nobody wants an auto tranny in their Civic. they are not at all performance oriented and if you even get it to line up I doubt the framerail will even have enough clearance for the larger auto b series tranny housing. Please forget about doing an auto B series swap into your Civic.
First of all you'll need to decide this:
Hydro tranny, or cable tranny?
Hydro 94-01 Integra or any 92-00 Civic B16A hydro tranny would be the better choice as it is made for your 92-95 clutch set-up, but if you go cheapie like so many people do and get the cable 90-93 Integra/B16 tranny then you can buy the mount kit and conversion for cable/hydro from http://www.hasport.com as someone already so kindly linked to you. You can mix and match mounts, but the bottom line is that you will need a cable to hydro conversion kit if you buy a cable 5-speed tranny.
