B17 swap: Which car?
I have a B17 swap complete. From a GSR front clip. EVERY wire + ECU.
I have a 90 REX (see sig), It was gonna be the recipient of the B17.
Just picked up Jason's, "blown90hatch" OBD0-OBD1 harness.
Got a good deal on a 91 teg LS, couldn't turn it down.
So the question is do I go ahead and put it in the REX, (lots of work+time+
money)? Or: Drop it in the teg and make it a 91 GSR(which honda didn't make )Less time, little bit of work, NO more money?
What do you guys think?

Rex. My friend just did that swap in his 90 hatch. Converted to OBD1, used HCP mounts and called it a day. Piece of cake w/the jumper.

Re: B17 swap: Which car? (UpstateCivic)
do me a favor, check to see that the engine harness has the same type of connectors as the chassis harness, in the OBD0 vehicle.
I'm putting a 92 GSR motor (B17) in a OBD0 integra, and the plugs don't mate up, which is wierd, becuase they're the same generation, although different OBD.
It's becoming a mini-hassle

Re: B17 swap: Which car? (PHiZ)
OBD generation and body and model generation do not correlate.
ALL CRX's are OBD0 or non-OBD some call it. Because last year of production was 1991 at least in the US.
Because OBD1 started in model year 1992, the last 2 years
of the 2G teg is OBD1( which includes both years the B17 was offered).
But the 1st two years of the 2G teg, 1990 - 1991 are OBD0.
I think OBD1 carried over to the 1995 or 1996 model year so the 1st
two model years of the 3G teg are OBD1 as well, see?
Model generation and OBD generation flip - flop.
With + anyway
So to answer your question no the plugs don't match for 2 reasons,
#1: CRX's are OBD0, 1992 - 93 tegs w/ B17 are OBD1.
#2: in my case, besides the OBD0 - 1 differences the rex is DPFI
and the teg is MPFI and VTEC.
Hope that cleared up some of your confusion.
Oh yeah, one more thing OBD0 plugs are white plastic, OBD1 plugs are
grey plastic and no they won't mate up. Still trying to figure a way around
these problems though.

Re: B17 swap: Which car? (4crx4me)
this might be helpful to you. Supposedly the OBD0 engine harness from the B-series that the 90teg came with will plug into the OBD1 GSR motor. Cutting down on wiring a great deal. I was told, that after that, I will only have to run: vtec, vtec oil pressure, extend coolant temp wire, and 02 sensor (1 wire, to 4 wire?)
so, maybe if you can find a 90-91 teg engine harness, it'll cut down on thewiring? good luck, I'll tell you for sure, when I try to plug the harness tomorrow.

You could install that OBD1 B17 in the PreOBD Teg or CRX using OBD0 electronics, but WHY?? Now instead of using that OBD1 P61 Vtec ECU, you have to find yourself a OBD0 PR3 or PWO.
Also, Now you have to find a rare, and high failure and old, OBD0 Dohc Vtec Distributor. WHY???
That is one of the MAIN reasons I encourage my customers to convert their 90-91 Integras or 88-91 Civics/CRXs to OBD1!!
With Jason's conversion harness its a snap. Also, with the OBD1 B17 setup, you have the downpipe with the single 4-wire, heated o2 sensor. With the PWO/PR3 setup, you should run 2-single wire, non-heated O2 sensors up close to the exhaust ports.
Going with OBD0 with a OBD1 package is a step BACKWARDS in my opinion. There are so many advantages of going OBD1.
I used to RE-PIN the whole entire in-car ECU harness for OBD1. Now, with Jason's conversion harness, its great, and saves my shop time!!!!!

Re: B17 swap: Which car? (HandCommand)
I'm having a little trouble with my conversion harness. I'm using instructions for a B16 OBD1 harness, and there are some subtle differences. If anyone can get me a pinout diagram/list for the P61 ecu, I'd appreciate it.
specifically:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by PHiZ »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I came across some problems, I will use the numbering scheme where the first number is straight across, and the parantheses number is the honda zig-zag numbering.
I'm missing pins/wires in the obd1 plug at:
A19(A12) - radiator fan relay
A21(A16) - Alternator
D16(D10) - Electronic Load Sensor
Also the following appear to merge together into one wire on my harness:
A11(A21) and A24(A22) are spliced into one single wire.
the diagram calls for
A11(A21) connected to OBD0:B8(B15) labeled as ignition unit signal
A24(A22) connected to OBD0:B9(B17) labeled ignitor unit
And also at B12(B8) on the OBD1 harness I have an extra light blue wire. </TD></TR></TABLE>
