B16b pistons in my B16a
Hey guys, I have a obd1 B16a and its time to freshen it up so, I bought a set of B16b pistons and sent my motor to the machine shop. I am aware that the rods will need to be machined .5mm on each side near the wrist pin. But will I have to have the motor re-balanced with these pistons?
I am doing a budget rebuild here, and its not a racecar, so I wont be bouncing it off rev limiter all day... but I do want a reliable vehicle. Also, I have heard a few different answers about what the compression ratio will be with this combo.. The guy I bought them from says 11:1 and someone else said 11:6... can someone confirm this?

It wont work. Plain and simple.
The b16b pistons will not work due to the fact of the deck height of the b16a.
The b16b motor is a b18c5 block restamped to b16b, it is a 1.6l due to the crank.
With the b16b pistons in the b18c motor it will fit perfect. With the b16a block the pistons will stick out of the top of the sleeves. There will be piston to head/valve damage.
If you want to use the b16b pistons get a b18c or b18a/b block.
