b16a2 obd2a into 99 civic dx hatchback with CTR ecu..
OK, my friend just purchased a b16a2 from the cocky HMO. His motor was pretty clean but came with a cut harness and had a few little flaws. Anyway, they were out of regular ecu's so he ended up getting a CTR ecu. The problem is right now is that we need to figure the wiring on the car. We purchased an obd2a1 1998 civic ex wiring harness for some extra plugs but havent really chopped off parts yet. The "A" plug is on a separate harness that goes behind the dash. I guess the ex harness has the "A" plug on the engine harness. What do I do to make it work with the CTR ecu. A couple of us have heard that ctr's firing order is backwards from a normal b16a2 which I am doubting. To sum things up we have an obd2b car with an obd2a motor and ecu. We also have a spare ex harness laying around. I dont have time to spend hours searching so hit me up at accordscantdrift@hotmail.com, accordscantdrift on aol, msn, and yahoo. Thank you!!

is the ecu an obd2a? if not, then the harness you got is useless cuz the ecu plugs are different between obd2a and obd2b. i would just get a new b16a2 harness, theyre usually not too hard to find. this should match right up to the obd2b ecu and since your car is obd2b there shouldnt be any problems. oh yeah and if you want a p2t ecu (00 b16a2 ecu), i got one.

The ecu we have is obd2a. The engine is obd2a. We have the ex harness that is obd2a also. The problem is that the car is obd2b so we ended up having 2 "A" plugs when we use the ex harness. So far I have heard that Im supposed to use the ex harness and its "plug and play". The way I see it is that I need to use the ex harness. Pull the pins out of the "A" plug in the obd2b harness and find thier spot in the ex "a" plug. Am I wrong?

You will need a complete 99-00 OBD2B EX or Si harness if you want it to be as close to plug and play as possible with minimal wiring. Of course you can reuse the stock DX harness and add the necessary wiring as well. Then you will need an OBD2B to OBD2A ECU adapter harness so that the CTR ECU will plug in. DO NOT try using a 96-98 harness in the 99 chassis!
