B16A2 into 94 Civic EX help!
Yo guys, my name is Wayne and I am new here. I signed up cause i have some questions about installing my girlfriends motor swap. This is my first jap spec swap - i usually do old school lowriders. I am swapping a B16A2 in place of my girls SOHC VTEC 1.6 in her 94 Civic EX. I have the PCM, tranny, axles froma 94 Integra GSR, timing belt and water pump to a 2000 Civic SI (always change it - force of habit) ... ummm Looks like the 2 harnesses are completely reversed. I also am not sure about whether or not the engine will swap in with her factory mounts?!?! This is my biggest problem, someone told me i needed a rear engine mount (engine to firewall) to a 94 GSR, but when i went to get it it is the same part # at advanced auto?!?! Basically I need someone who has done this exact swap before to lemme know what kind of gremlins i am gonna run into. Please guys i know someone can help me out - and g/f is gonna chop my ***** off if i dont get this in there by the time she comes back in 2 weeks! Thanks in advance guys!
Peace,
Wayne.
Peace,
Wayne.

If its not jap spec why does have it have a wiring harness for a right hand drive car? It is def a jap spec, i know where it came from. I wanted to know the # for a limited slip tranny .... im not sure what tranny i got!?!??!

if it ahs the RHD harness, then its not a b16a2, its a b16 Sir2. different motors.
lsd trannys are usually Stamped with LSD on them in like a black stamper... not a vin plate nor an engraving... but like black ink stamped on the case. but thats not ALWAYS the case, but 98% of the time it is.
you can also try to look through the dif with the axles out

I did a B16A (SiR1) into a 93 civic EX and got almost alll my info from pissedoffsol's website (www.hondaswap.com), so don't try to discredit him in any way. There's also some good tutorials there.
For mounts, you will need the rear mount BRACKET, not the rubber mount itself. You can use your old mount. Sorry buddy, advance auto doesn't sell this bracket, they just sell the mount. It's about $60 from the acura dealer. Get one for a 94-01 integra M/T. Go to www.acuraautomotiveparts.org to take a look.
Your old D-series timing belt mount, as well as the tranny mount, will bolt onto the new motor. The old a/c won't bolt up to the new engine without a 94-95 delsol VTEC a/c bracket.
As for as the wiring, use the old civic EX wiring harness. It has every wire you need with the exception of the knock sensor wire. I would ditch the GSR ecu and put a chip in the P28 5spd ECU that's in her car now. The P28 doesn't look for a knock sensor so the problem is eliminated. Plus you can sell the GSR ECU for at least $150.
One last thing, if the block is indeed a B16A2, as you claim, it is from a 99-00 Civic Si, unless someone has put the engine together using a 99-00 Si shortblock. This will create wiring issues because the engine is OBD-2, and your car's harness, ECU, not to mention the 94 GSR ECU, are all obd-1. Pissedoffsol is absolutely correct. RHD wiring harness or not, a B16A2 is USDM, not JDM.
READ HERE if you don't believe us.
This is GOOD because it is a legal swap in all 50 states, emissions-wise, plus it has the same hp/trq as the JDM version. There should be a VIN # plate on the block(unless it's been removed). Run the VIN on carfax and you'll be surprised.
Good luck.

Re: B16A2 into 94 Civic EX help! (Wayne64SS)
Aside from the fact that if it is a JDM motor it is a B16a not a2, if it is an OBD I motor it should drop in, all mounts should line up. You will need to swap the wiring harness from the old motor, possibly having to extend some wires ( I had to extent the IAT sensor plug and Oil pres. sensor ) you will only need to run one wire to the ECU, that being the knock sensor wire(take it from the RHD harness) it will need to be pinned into the ECU This site will tell your where they need to go http://tech.hybridgarage.com/t....html
