Default B16A1 into EG, ?? about the driver side mount...

i'm installing my first B16A into an EG (i've only installed B18's in the past) and it happens to be a 1st Gen. B16A block.

so i have a few questions about the driver side engine mount. i have extra GSR/LS mounts that attach to the chassis, but as most know they're completely different than the B16A.

should i use the mount that came with the block that attaches to the timing side, and just pick up a chassis mount to match it?

if so what mount will work? the DelSol VTEC or 99-00 Civic SI?
or will are the 1st Gen. chassis mounts different from the 2nd and 3rd Gen.?

thanks for any input on this. the motor goes in pretty soon and i was hoping to find out what i need before then and get the mount.

you should be able to reuse your existing EG's dr.side mount...the one thats used on your SOHC engine. If it doesn't work, then you need to change the black cast iron block mount thats on your 1st gen b16 to a 92+ B16A cast iron mount.

well right now i have the B18C mounts on the chassis yet (driver, passenger side and firewall) cause the motor i removed was a GSR. i'm reusing the GSR tranny and head, but in the meantime i rebuilt an extra B16A block i had which as i mentioned happens to be a 1st Gen. with that cast iron mount i've never seen before.

i don't have any D series mounts, only LS/GSR engine mounts. so i guess i'll have to locate a 92+ B16A cast iron timing side mount to work with what i have in there now.

will the 92+ B16A cast iron mount work with the 94+ GSR chassis mount?
or do i need to get both the cast iron mount and the chassis mount from a 92+ B16A swap?

thanks for your input, i just want to be sure i'm understanding what you're saying i need.

ok you can reuse all of the GSR engine mounts on the 1st b16, they're compatible, even the black-cast iron mount I'm talking about.

here's a image that helps show where the black cast iron mount is:

the 92+ B16 cast iron mount will NOT work with a GSR's mount because its not a 3-post mount, its only a dual-post mount. So you'll have to use the complete GSR timing beltside mount(s).

That's what I did. I used the original B series pedestal and used my Stock D series mount and bushing.

i would reuse the D series mount from the original motor, but that motor was sold awhile back and i believe the mounts went with it since i didn't need them cause the new motor was a B18C.

so basically what i have to work with at the moment is the cast iron 1st Gen. B16A mount w/bolts, the B18C1 chassis engine mount and an extra B18B1 cast iron mount that i have layin around. i thought i could take the B18 iron mount and use that on the B16A block, but i wasn't sure if the motor would sit correctly level since the B16A block has a lower deck height. i wasn't sure if the B18B/C cast iron mount would be centered correctly on the timing side of the B16A block.

so will the B18B cast iron mount work on the B16A block in order to use the GSR mount that's already on the chassis?

thanks again for all the input, it helps me figure out what i could use before buying items i may not really need.

yes you can use the B18B motor mounts....it uses identical mounts as the GSR engine (3 post aluminum liquid filled mount).

i routed through a box of misc. B16A and B18B items and found a mount that i think came off of a 1st Gen. B16A, but it's shaped like the B18B mount i have.
i matched it up and it looks identical, and it fits the B16A block perfectly so it should work with the GSR engine mount.

thanks for all the input everyone.

Good deal man...I had the SAME exact problem as you. I spent a whole afternoon trying to pair up a mount with the pedestal.
