B16A swap is done! but not as fast?......
so i finished the swap tonight, after about 15 hours of work. fixed a small leak and adjusted everything. the CEL never came on once, and the car starts right away and idles great. i'd like to thank everyone on the board that helped me along the way as this is my first swap - so THANKYOU!!
i have a new clutch so i've been shifting kind of easy until its broken in, but i have been flooring it in a single gear just to see what it puts out but its not quite as fast as i expected. maybe i'm just tired, but one would expect to notice a ~50HP gain, wouldnt they? i'm just wondering if there is something i should check. i havent checked the timing so could this be the problem? i just feel like there's more potential since its in such a lightweight car.
thanks

****!
take your time!
be at one with your car...
she will come good,
a little tweak here, a little tweak there,
the power is all up past 6000rpm,
you may need to get used to this....
dont beat on a fresh hybrid, give it a couple of hundred to settle in!

i couldnt agree more
who KNOWS how long the motor was sitting before you started it up
i didnt beat on mine for about 150 miles even then i didnt take it to the track (for a full 1/4 run) for almost a month
my friend just swapped a new prelude motor in and beat the **** out of it the first night. now its running slower than his last h22.
keep an eye out for leaks and stuff.
if your not sure if everything is working right take it to get dynoed (make sure you tell them not to beat on the clutch) it should dyno 140-150 to the wheels
good luck and congrats

Hey man, I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen CRX's with B16's run mid 15's from the get go, so don't expect to run 13's just yet.
But if you are talking about 'Feeling' a 50 hp gain, you are looking in the wrong place, because the B16 is torqueless. Take your car to the strip, you'll realize the difference.

mine was the same way, ran like *** at first
i gave it some time breaking it in and what not and redoing the timing (particularly the ignition) and all was well
good luck

when you guys talk about timing, are you referring to adjusting the dizzy angle? or are you talking about adjustable cam sprockets? just wondering...
thanks for all of the replies so far

my b16a was running like crap the first couple of weeks, after fixing all the little things here and there, and giving it a break-in period, my car is running awesome and now i just need a new clutch and i'll be okay. good luck
