Default B16a SirII motor bolted to a m24a auto transmission...

So I got this 1992 civic dx 4 door and have now swaped in a B16a SirII motor (manual trans block - 170hp) and connected it to a M24a auto transmission (don't ask me why.)

My dilemma is that the current ECU won't enable the locking torque convertor (kinda like an overdrive). This means lots of wasted gas and lower top end. I was told to replace the ECU with a p28 ECU (37820-p28-a52 to be exact) and have it reprogrammed to redline at 8200rpm (motor's stock redline).

Does this sound like a solution? If it works couldn't I chip the ECU instead of reprogramming?

Youve probibly already done what yer gunna do on it, but the correct solution is: dump the m24a. Its a sh*t tranny. My Gramma could blow one up in no time. Runs on 3 quarts (yup three) of Honda tranny fluid. They all develop same prob. Torque converter starts to spit metal, the fine mesh SS screen clogs (have to remove and open trans to clean screen) till no fluid will go thru. Turn off car, restart, drive 50 yards, no forward, turn off car, restart, drive 50 yards....You see where Im goin with this? Dump the m24a....

Bumping this oldie bc I have a m24a that I want to put in a ef sedan. What’s up with this tranny this guy has it mounted to a b16?! I’ve seen it for sale on eBay listed as a b16 trans and I’ve seen it again on eBay for sale with and mounted to a dohc d16a9 for a 1990 Crx I personally pulled mine out of a 1993 del sol and a couple cars over in the junk yard there was another del sol with a m24a both had d15b vtec motors.
