Hi. I know my user name states that i have a 96hb but really I am going to get one pretty soon . My current car is forsale. Originally i was going to do the usual to the non vtec motor , ex intake manifold , ex header , ex intake and custom exhaust. i realize that this will not make me very fast . My other option is to get a B16 motor from the 99-00 si's . I talked to a local import guy with a show and he said that he can obtain a B16 obd II for a 96-00 hatch for only 2000 shipped complete with tranny and ecu... that seems kinda low but maybe he was talking about older del sol si motor which i beleive is still obd II. Anyways what is the code for a B16 from a 99-00 si and a del sol si . All UDSM. If i could get the b16 for only 2k then i will go for it . I talked to my dad and as long as into not too hard we will do it. Now when i get the 96-00 hb i understand that the engine will drop right in without any special modification. That should not be too hard . Will the ecu pop right in , in place of the old one and will i need the si wiring harness and how hard will that harness be to install. My dad has pretty decent knowelage about cars but he has neven done something like this . So all the help is appraciated . PLEASE HELP .

best bet would b get a 96 Del Sol VTEC ECU (kinda rare). it will plug right into the 97 harness but u will still need to add wires for VTEC, VTEC pressure switch, and knock sensor. the motor is easy to drop in though.

so get a b16 from a 99-00 si. and then get a 96 vtec del sol ecu.... and everything should work

yep, the ECU will kinda b hard to find, its kinda rare. i know of a guy that has one though. it just makes alot less wiring for u to do if u use a ECU that plugs in.
