To answer your questions.
1. Yes, it will bolt up..
2. You wont really gain much out of it.. But You will loose .2 points of compression with that combination..
3, Yes , next time, do a search, this is constantly brought up..Good luck

in my opinion a b16 head on a gsr block is a good combo. you will loose .2 comp however stock to stock the b16 head flows a bit better than the gsr head. what you will have is a kinda low comp type-r motor. if you want to get serious then when the head is off the gsr block replace the p72 pistons with p30 pistons.

Anyone know which bolt should be used, b16 or b18 head bolts?

I'd use b16 head bolts, or b18c5 head bolts, should be the same.
We recently put my old ITR head on a friends gsr block, used B18C5 bolts and no problem, since b16 and b18c5 use same casting for their heads.
Good rule of thumb i have seen most mechanics use is use head bolts that fit the corresponding head you use.

Don't use the b16 bolts. It's not the head that matters it's the deck height on the block. The b16 bolts are about a 1/4" shorter than b18c bolts. I had this problem when I built my lsvtec.

And whoever said the b16 head flows better then the gsr head is wrong. The gsr flows more, but has that shitty snail intake manifold. There really is no point in switching heads. The gsr head flows slightly less then the type R head, but more then the unported b16 head. Plus you lose compression when you switch heads. So really all you should do is go with the Skunk2 intake manifold and a little match porting.

You need B18C head bolts/studs and a B18C1/5/B16A head gasket.
As far as the GSR vs. B16a head. Here you go....

With this combo with PR3 pistons (11.1:1 CR) and GSR cams I made 182hp and 134 torque.

My friend just talked to Erick's Racing yesterday and he asked about the GSR/B16a heads. The dyno tested the same motor with different heads after both heads being porting and the B16a head put down 8 more horsepower than the GSR head. Granted, this is AFTER porting, but you probably get the point.

That's correct! I have a buddy he did the swap and he runs mid 13's all motor. He has high compression pistons no sure what they are but it a quick *** car.
