Default b16a bottom end with b18c1 head?

I'm getting a spare shortblock, but can only find b16a ones. Does anybody know or think what the compression would probably be sitting at? I'm geussing that it'll probably lose some compression, but I wanna know for sure. Which head gasket should I use also?

the B16 has 2 different pistons:

PR3 = 89-91 B16A Piston, CR = 10.2
JDM P30 = 92+ B16A Piston, CR = 10.4

with the B18c1 GSR Head will be some where in the range of 10.4-10.6 thats using the USDM Piston

You can try this setup if you want, but I can assure you that it will suck. Seriously. I spun a bearing on a block that I had in my hatchback a while ago and I built one of these motors with extra parts.

99 Si shortblock
98 B18C head w/ ITR intake valves and springs
1 layer silver headgasket
ITR intake cam, 99 SI exhaust cam
DC 4-1 header
AEM intake and 5 Zigen exhaust

I ran terrible. Best time I could get was a 15.0@90.1
That was with a GSR computer.
It felt slow as **** w/ that. When I used a B16 computer it felt MUCH faster. Anyway, don't even bother with this setup.

GSR motor sucks. And when you take away what little torque it has, it becomes worse.

Hmmm......this is first time I heard that GSR motor sucks...I usually hear that B16 is like a piece of crap cuz you have to rev real high to get it's power. Anyway....this is the setup that my friend was telling me to do

B16A head
B18C1 shortblock
and itr/ctr internal

W/ this setup..I think you should get the best of both b16 and b18..high revving and more torque...

CorporalJeff the setup your talking about is considered a poor mans ITR what Mike k is saying sucks is the b16 bottom on a GSR head yea you have the compression but the bottomend produces no torque.

which head bolts did you use? Are they the same between the b16 and the b18? How shitty was it, for real? You think it might've been your 60' time or cam timing?

You guys think that throwing a b18c1 crankshaft in a b16 is a straight bolt-on? Will it even stroke it the extra .2L?
