Default b16 head bolts in LS/Vtec.

It will work, right? Someone told me last night that I HAD to use GSR bolts.

I BELIEVE they just have to be from a VTEC head since the length is different.

either the b16 or gsr bolts will work. the gsr's bolts are a bit longer (people say it's better to use)

trust me, use only the gsr studs or arp units for the gsr. They are close to a 1/4" longer. If you are running high compression you will blow a headgasket. I know someone who blew theirs several times and he was only running ITR pistons. Ive got some if your interested.(b18c that is)

Im running stock LS(pr4) pistons, with a b16 head milled .020. My compression ration will be a hair over 10.1:1. So no, I will not be running high compression.

I guess me question is, will th b16 bolts work for now? I don't have time to get GSR ones, and Im starting the install on everything on friday night.

yeah they will work, just know why youve blown a headgsket if you do. not saying you will, but if you do, thats why.

I don't understand why/how the head bolts cause the head gasket to blow? As long as all the bolts are torqued down to spec, shouldn't it be the same as GSR bolts?

the b16 bolts are shorter. meaning less threads to hang on.

The only threads "hanging on" are the ones engaged by the nut. That won't change no matter how long or short your studs are.
