Default b16 cel 23 (knock sensor)

I am getting a cel 23 in my 92 b16 teg. But the cel doesnt come on until about 4-5mns of driving it easy, but if I drive it harder it comes on faster, I assume thats because thats when it detects detonation and throws the code, right? Now my question is lately when I come to a stoplight the car will surge about 200rpms about 3-4 times then stop, it only does it as Im stopping (neutral, or clutch engaged). I just soldered the wire for the KS cause it never was, it was only twisted (also how important is it for this wire to be insulated like the o2?) then reset the ecu and drove, but after a few its back again! Now my question is would the cel delay like this if it was unplugged too?

Also when I check my cel's I get codes 23 AND my "normal" 20. Thats been there since day 1 of my swap (I was told it wont go away but doesnt do anything) How come that code doesnt show when I first start the car? is it hidden? Or is the KS's code hidden untill the cel's are pulled? Anyone with experience and/or knowledge please chime in.... Thanks in Advance.

check to see if the knock sensor is tight in the block , then check the continuity from ecu to knock sensor , lastly replace the knock sensor ...hint the cel 23 does not come on when the sensor reads pinging or knocking it just tells the ecu to pull timing out it ony throws the code when there is something wrong with the wiring or the sensor(usually)

My friends CRX B16A had the same problem. The knock sensor wasn't completely tightened down to spec. After we did that it went away.

I'm having this same problem but I don't know where or how to check if my wiring is correct. Is there a diagram or photos I could follow to make sure my setup is right?

hello I'm a new member of HONDA TECH, now my question is: i have a B16A JDM, with P30 ECU, my knock sensor got broken, but is disable con the ECU, so the cel 23 does not appears anymore. This could cause a huge problem on the engine or this could affect the power of the engine if this knock sensor is disable on the ECU???

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Hi guys I have a 90 integra with the b16a on it I buy like that but I have one issue
After 4,000 rpm my check engine light get on I replace the knock sensor but its still showing the same code on the ecu code 23 and I find out the oxygen sensor go on the catalytic converter its not connect last onwer cut the wire
Its that can be the problem or ecu because
The knock sensor wire are good
